Originally William R. Van Riper; later work by Raven I. McDavid, Jr., Bruce Southard, and Dennis Preston.

Status of work:
Field work complete, consisting of audio tapes, from 1959-63; transcription of words and phrases completed 1980-84 by Raven McDavid.

Areas covered:
The state of Oklahoma.

Subjects:
Fifty-seven Oklahoma speakers were tape recorded between 1960 and 1962.

Nature of recordings:
Questionnaire  in the Linguistic Atlas forma, with innovations to reflect Oklahoma speech.

Archives:
Audio tapes are maintained at the Library of Congress, with some copies at the Digital Media Archive of the University of Chicago. Paper transcriptions are archived in the Special Collections repository of the Library, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia 30602. For access to original materials, contact the Linguistic Atlas project office.
